Five settings I change the moment I install a game
I have a little ritual now. New game installs, and before I touch the first level I open the settings menu. It takes two minutes and it has saved me from a lot of early frustration.
One, graphics preset — I drop it a notch to see if performance and battery improve without hurting the look. Two, frame cap, for the same reasons. Three, control layout, which I reposition or switch to a tap scheme if offered.
Four, haptics and screen vibration. Some games buzz constantly and it both annoys me and eats battery, so off it goes. Five, auto-sort or assist toggles in menu-heavy games, which quietly make everything smoother.
None of this is exciting, but it's the difference between a game feeling clumsy and feeling like it fits your phone. Give the settings screen a minute before you decide a game is bad.
